{Artisoft's ArtiScribe (tm) Digital Dictation System}
[{Preliminary Specifications}]
Now any LAN workstation with an Artisoft Sounding Board adapter
installed can become a dictation or transcription station! The
ArtiScribe Digital Dictation System combines the crystal clear
digital recordings of Sounding Board with the powerful efficiency
of a LAN, to provide you with a flexible, easy-to-use dictation
system.
Dictating can be done at any time, no matter what text mode DOS
application you happen to be running at the moment. All you have
to do is pop up ArtiScribe's control pad, tell it to start
recording, and then begin speaking. You can even continue to
record while you return to your original program. When finished,
simply use the control pad to stop recording, and your piece is
complete.
Sending your dictated piece to a transcriptionist -- or to other
ArtiScribe users -- is as simple and as quick as picking the
names from a list. If you wish, you can assign priorities and add
spoken or textual descriptions to your ArtiScribe documents.
Transcribing is just as easy because ArtiScribe works in the
background while you type -- from within any text-mode DOS word
processor. Just pop up the ArtiScribe control pad to see a list
of all of the ArtiScribe documents that have been sent to you,
including their dates, lengths, descriptions and priorities.
After you've made your selection, ArtiScribe will continue to
play the selected piece while you return to the word processor
and type. No more awkward footpedals or clumsy buttons, switches
and knobs -- you can control playback without lifting a finger.
Simply SAY the playback commands and ArtiScribe will obey. You
can even control the speed of playback to your own comfort level,
without causing the recorded voice to sound like Darth Vader or
the Chipmunks.
Because ArtiScribe utilizes Sounding Board's digital recording
capabilities, there are no tapes to wear out, so voice
reproduction will always be of outstanding quality. Doing away
with tapes also eliminates the inefficient and insecure physical
handling necessary with traditional systems. And, since every
piece is stored separately, there is no time-consuming scanning
to find a particular piece from among many on a tape.
ArtiScribe lets you expand your system as your needs expand --
all for a very affordable cost. Just add an Artisoft Sounding
Board adapter and the ArtiScribe software for every LAN
workstation you want to convert to an ArtiScribe workstation.
ArtiScribe has been designed to be compatible with nearly all
network operating systems, although, of course, users of
Artisoft's LANtastic will enjoy enhanced installation and message
notification features.
